Living in NC while having family in KY, I've gotten to see our mts from many different occasions. I got the chance to go to Colorada where a friend took me thru the Rockies. They are beautiful and so different than what I was used to and I hope to go back. They weren't any more pretty or majestic as , The Smokies and rest of Appalachians. I bet the Alaskian range is worth the trip......
